According to Qualcomm‘s President,
“By the 2019 holidays, every Android company working with Qualcomm on a phone for the US market will launch a flagship that has 5G”.

This flagship will succeed last year’s Galaxy S9 and will be a 10th-anniversary flagship from Samsung’s Galaxy S-Series.

The Chinese brand “OnePlus” is another OEM and OnePlus’ executive has already shown commitments and made comments that indicate an upcoming 5G handset. Mr. Pete Lau (Chief Executive of OnePlus) has confirmed that we are manufacturing 5G-enabled smartphone in conjunction with Qualcomm.
Though Mr. Pete Lau didn’t reveal an official release date – but we it won’t be wrong to expect to see OnePlus 7 and 7T at the same time OnePlus releases its annual flagships – probably in May.
3: Oppo 5G Smartphone
The Oppo’s upcoming 5G supported handset is yet to be named. However, it has one in the works. Back in 2018, Oppo tested a modified unit of its Oppo R15 smartphone with 5G network successfully. Furthermore, Oppo also demoed the world’s first 5G video call. Though these are not really important but strong indications that Oppo will be the second brand to have a 5G-ready smartphone in 2019.
4: Huawei 2019 – 5G Smartphone
The world’s 2nd biggest smartphone brand is another OEM whose senior executives have confirmed plans to release a 5G-ready handset which will hit the market in 2019. Well, a name of that smartphone is yet to be unveiled. But, Mr. Walter Ji (President of Huawei’s Western European Consumer Business Group) has said that Huawei P30 isn’t going to be launched with 5G Technology, but it’ll be ready for Mate 30 which will arrive on shelves in second part of 2019.

The Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi has already released Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 back in 2018. But now, there are plans to launch a new 5G-ready variant in 2019. This latest variant of Mi Mix 3 will be loaded with Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 855 Chipset and Snapdragon X50 modem with an on-paper download speed of 2Gbps.
There you have it! There are so many other smartphone brands hinted at a possibility of launching 5G handsets in 2019 like Vivo, Lenovo, Nokia, HTC, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor and quite a few others. Perhaps you are wondering why Apple isn’t on the list above, right? Well, from all indications, Apple isn’t fully ready to launch 5G-enabled iPhone in 2019. This is because of Apple’s scuffle with Qualcomm – the only semiconductor and communications company with a 5G modem ready for use in 2019. If it’s true, Apple has to wait till Intel’s 5G modem is available commercially for smartphones in 2020. Though it’s expected to release 5G PCs before the year ends.
